Some of my favorite types of games are old high score based games. I created this page as a record of the high scores I've gotten in each game.
Game | Platform | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Galaga | Atari 7800 | 48930 | This is a really great version of Galaga. It's a bit easier than the arcade version, which I prefer because it means you can play for longer and get pretty far. |
Demon Attack | Atari 2600 | 5530 | I really like this 2600 shooter. The way the demons fly onto the screen looks really cool and is impressive for the console. It gets pretty difficult fairly fast, but if you beat a level without losing any lives, you get an extra life. |
Crazy Kong | Arcade | 33600 | A semi-bootleg version of Donkey Kong. I believe the cabinet I played was the second revision which was more stable and resembles the original a bit more. |
Space Cadet 3D Pinball | PC | ~6 Million | I never took a picture of this one, so I can't exactly remember how many points I scored. It was a few years ago and I honestly don't think I could ever replicate it. |
Paku Paku | MS-DOS | 158150 | This is a fantastic fanmade DOS version of Pac-Man. It actually runs in a low resolusion 16 color CGA mode which was very rarely used. The reason I was able to get so many points was because you get a life every 10,000 points, rather than just one extra life at 10,000 points. |
River Raid | Commodore 64 | 22660 | River Raid is one of my all time favorite shoot-em-up games. Most people know the Atari 2600 version, but it actually came out on various platforms. My favorites are the Commodore 64 version and the Atari 5200 version, which actually have some additional enemies which make the game a bit more difficult. The Atari 5200 version is probably my favorite, as the analog controller gives you very precise movement over your plane. |
Centipede | Atari 2600 | 97634 | I think I might have accidentally turned on some sort of easy mode when I got this score, because I haven't really been able to do as well since. While it's not super great graphically, Centipede actually is fairly accurate gameplay wise and as fun as ever on the 2600. |
