mjdxp - The Dark Side of Sun.com

Sun Microsystems was a beloved UNIX system manufacterer and software developer, known for creating SunOS/Solaris. Unfortunately, they were acquired by Oracle and most articles on sun.com now redirect to Oracle sites. However, there are a few pages still left behind which do not redirect.

NetBeans IDE Download Page

For some reason, this is one of the few pages which are still accessible. It's pretty broken, likely due to assets being deleted, but it still works for the most part. The download links work and have dedicated pages. A few icons and images still are hosted on sun.com as well. Most of the links lead to NetBeans pages that don't exist anymore. For a version of the site as it was intended to be seen, refer to this archive of the page. A simiilar version for a NetBeans beta exists here, and another download page for Python exists here.

VirtualBox

On the same dlc.sun.com (Download Center) server as the NetBeans page is what appears to be a mirrored version of VirtualBox's file server. Clicking on any link will redirect you to virtualbox.org. You can manually type the file path in the URL bar to see the version mirrored to Sun. I'm not exactly sure why this exists.

Open JBI Components Designtime NBM downloads Build Build090422

I have no idea what this is for, some sort of page with a bunch of working download links.

404 Page

An old Oracle branded 404 page which appears on nonexistant pages on the DLC server. The search doesn't work. The site map link leads to a strange looking error page on Oracle's website.
